In order to maintain accurate order tracking and efficient workflow 80/20 has implemented software that allows employees to scan an order in and out when it passes through their station. In order to efficiently scan each order, every workstation must be equipped with a computer, a scan gun and a monitor.

"In the Custom Machining Department the challenge was to retrofit a computer workstation that was mounted to a non 80/20 piece of equipment," says Paul Dirig. "It also needed to be dynamic in the sense that it could move out of the way and be adjustable when it was in use."

The 80/20 Design Team took on the challenge and solved many of the project requirements using dynamic motion components offered in the 80/20 catalog. Ironically, retrofitting the arm onto the Haas machinery did require some help from the machine itself in creating the custom parts needed for the project.

"Our Custom Maching Department did a great job creating the block system we used to mount the 80/20 extrusions and ultimately the computer hardware," Dirig states. "In all reality I just needed to give the 80/20 Design Team a sketch, and a few measurements, they took care of the rest. Its good to know how easy the process really is."
